Competition Details

The competition process in the United States begins with a series of Regional Competitions. Every active SIFE team has the opportunity to participate in one of these events, where they will compete against one another to determine which of them achieved the most impact improving the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Teams must first apply and receive approval from SIFE USA, after which they can register for the regional of their choice. The online application form can be accessed here.

Within each regional, teams are divided into separate leagues based on a series of "seeding" factors and randomly assigned a specific presentation time, during which they will distribute an annual report and make a live presentation to a group of executives serving as judges. Team's presentation time blocks are divided as follows:

  • Set-Up: 7 minutes
  • Audiovisual Presentation: 24 minutes
  • Question & Answer Period: 5 minutes
  • Exit: 1 minute

The number of leagues at each regional competition varies based on the number of competing teams, with a minimum of three teams per league and a maximum of seven. Up to three Regional Champion will be chosen per league depending on the actual number of teams in each league. League pairings for each regional competition location will be posted on the individual city pages three business days in advance of each event.

Teams that are named Regional Champions advance to the SIFE USA National Exposition. The competitive process at the Expo begins with the teams being divided among twenty separate opening round competition leagues. From the opening round, one finalist from each league moves forward to one of four semi-final round leagues, with one team from each of these leagues then qualifying to compete in the Final Round of Competition where they will present to a prestigious panel of top U.S. business leaders.

One of these teams will then be chosen as the SIFE USA National Champion team and earn the privilege of representing the United States at the SIFE World Cup.

Opening Round league pairing for the SIFE USA National Exposition will be posted in the Expo section approximately a week before the events and the Semi and Final Round pairings and results will be posted live from the event.
